Nathaniel David Dixon

Rev. Nathaniel David Dixon, 36, of Corinth, MS, passed from this life into eternity on Sunday, June 18, 2017. He was born in West Plains, MO on October 8, 1980 to Rev. Merl and Jeannie Dixon and graduated from Kossuth High School in 1999. His life, so tragically cut short, was spent in service to his family, his faith and his community. Nathan pastored New Life Tabernacle in Salem, Arkansas, and later served the Corinth and surrounding areas as a funeral director at Magnolia Funeral Home. His faith was perhaps seen least inside church walls. His calling was his life, and every action he took was in service to it. Whether behind the pulpit, directing a funeral, comforting the grieving, or playing with his children, Nathan’s conviction was the bedrock upon which his life was built. His faith was never forced into conversation because it was an undeniable undertone to everything he did. Nathan’s hands and feet preached the gospel louder than most preachers manage to shout it from pulpits, and his kindness touched more hearts than any lifetime of sermons. A true evangelist, everywhere he went he inspired and encouraged. Though Nathan was known as a gentle giant because of his stature, it is not his shoe size that anyone truly remembers; it is the size of his heart. With a booming laugh that preceded him into a room and a calm, steady voice that could soothe the most volatile of situations, Nathan’s presence never went unnoticed. In Isaiah 55, the Lord speaks of the word from Heaven, which cannot return empty. Nathan’s life exemplified this verse. Though he is no longer with us, his influence stretches before us like his shadow, and we will live the remainder of our lives being covered by it. Nathan’s exuberant love centered on his family, and if his children were his world, his wife Michelle was the axis on which it turned. His soul swelled larger than life, touching everyone around him, until the earth could no longer hold him. Perhaps heaven is big enough for the man earth could not contain. Visitation is scheduled for 5 - 8 pm, Thursday, June 22, 2017 and from 11am until service time Friday, June 23, 2017 at Magnolia Funeral Home. A home going celebration of Nathan's life will be held at 1 pm Friday, June 23, 2017 at Magnolia Funeral Home Chapel of Memories officiated by Rev. Dennis Anderson. Interment will follow in Dogwood Cemetery. Pallbearers include Clay Talley, Nathaniel Nooner, Adam Wren, Aaron Wren, Benjamin McCoy and Wesley Thomas. Honorary pallbearers include Nathan's classmates from Kossuth High School, the men of West Corinth Pentecostal Tabernacle, and the members of New Life Tabernacle of Salem, AR. Magnolia Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements. Those left to honor Nathan's memory include his sons: Nathaniel David Dixon II, Morgan Jeray Dixon; his daughter: Sayler Dixon; his stepsons: Braxton Hobbs and Brayden Hobbs all of Corinth; his parents: Rev. Merl and Jeannie Wilbanks Dixon; his brothers: Rev. Chris Dixon and wife Jena and Robyn, Benjamin, Aaron and Bethany all of White Hall, AR and Rev. Tim Dixon and wife Janet and Molly of Corinth; and his paternal grandmother: Onie Wilbanks of Walnut, MS. He also leaves his father and mother-in-law: Rev. Michael and Karen Johnson of Searcy, AR; his fellow employees at Magnolia Funeral Home and a host of loving family, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends he loved dearly. Nathan was preceded in death by the love of his life: Michelle Dixon; his maternal grandfather: K.C. Wilbanks and his paternal grandparents: Hughey and Viola Dixon.
