Mrs. Shipman passed away Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at her residence. She was born December 20, 1929, in Corinth, MS, to E. F. Bass and Leron Tyson Bass. She married William Emery Shipman on March 26, 1949. She worked as a bookkeeper for W. E. Shipman Trucking, a company she owned with her husband. She was a sales clerk in retail and was a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. Mamahilda, as her family called her, helped raise four generations of children and dedicated her life to loving and serving those around her. She – not just her house – was a home for those she loved. Her house was a place to go when times were good or bad, and a place where she greeted everyone with love, compassion, warmth, kindness, humor, encouragement and a lot of food. She loved hosting holidays and Sunday dinners; she always welcomed anyone who came and made sure there was plenty to eat. She is survived by her daughters, Sharon Counce (Tommy) of Booneville, MS and Serita Redding (Donnie) Corinth; 5 grandchildren, Chad Redding, Cayce Redding, Gena Counce, Joel Counce and Lin Mann (Ezra); 6 great-grandchildren, Amanda Cannon (Skylar), Jamie LeAnn Smith, Christina Smith, Brandon Smith, Lorelei Mann and Jonas Mann; 5 great-great-grandchildren, Brayden Donahue, Ava Donahue, Brylan Donahue (father, Briceson Donahue), Tull Cannon and Tate Cannon; sisters-in-law Betty Bass of Corinth, Ollie Shipman of Corinth and Dorothy Whitehurst of Corinth; brothers-in-law Mark Shipman (Nyla) of Corinth and Jerry Shipman (Marie) of Corinth; other relatives and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, her father E. F. Bass and mother Leron Tyson Bass, her brother Wayne Bass, in-laws Will and Vera Shipman, and sisters-in-law Earline Cook, Betty Gant and Mary Ann Baldwin. Pallbearers will be Joel Counce, Ezra Mann, Brandon Smith, Briceson Donahue, Skylar Cannon, Chris Smith and Chris Bishop. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Gideon’s International, PO Box 1603, Corinth, MS 38835.
