Imogene Maynard

Imogene Maynard, 83, of Corinth, MS passed away on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at Magnolia Regional Health Center. She was born in Alabama on July 3, 1934 to the late Uyless and Mary Etta McKinney Burleson and was of the Pentecostal faith. Imogene's early life was not one lived neatly, but she managed to turn the bad into something good, and make hard days into something beautiful. Like her beloved St. Louis Cardinals, Imogene went through some seasons of sadness and loss. Also like her Cardinals, she always came roaring back with a shout and a bang. Her house was never empty or silent; she and her loving husband of 42 years filled it to bursting with a happiness that seeped out of the always-open-doors into the lives of everyone they met. Friends gathered to play cards and eat up Imogene's homemade meals, always cooked with much love. It was around her table that relationships were made and mended; it overflowed with food, family and fun. Though her life had its hardships, Imogene took the ingredients of her life and, like the cook she was, made them into a perfect meal. It was not the pieces of her life that made her the beautiful woman she was - it was the whole she created from them. She charmed the world with her smile, sparked excitement with her mischievousness, and kept life interesting with her noise and action. We hope heaven has a deck of cards because we know she's about to ask where the kitchen is and start a game. A gathering of family and friends is scheduled for 5 -7 pm, Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Magnolia Funeral Home. Magnolia Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements. Those left to honor Imogene's memory include her husband: Tim Maynard of Corinth, MS; her son: Donald Hitt and wife Sheila of Rogers, AR; her daughter: Jerry Ann Lambert of Corinth, MS; her step-sons: James Shane Maynard of Wingo, KY and Kenneth Wayne Maynard and wife Edwina of Murray, KY; 10 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; her brother: Bill Huff and wife Rachel of Iuka, MS; other relatives and a host of friends. In addition to her parents Imogene was preceded in death by her son: Gary Neal Hitt; her brother: Ralph Wayne and by her sister: Demetria Riley.
