Jimmy Lee went to be with the Lord January 29, 2019 at The University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS after complications from LVAD surgery. Jimmy Lee was the “John Wayne” of North Mississippi. He was larger than life with an unconventional sprit and a zero boundaries approach. He lived 1000 years in his 69 calendar years. He loved life to the fullest, grabbed it by the horns, kissed it, and swung it back to the dance floor. He was a legend in many young cowboys’ eyes. Jimmy Lee never met a stranger and was full of charisma. He may have been one of the luckiest individuals around-always drawing the best calf and having the best horse, Red, that worked perfectly. Jimmy Lee loved his family, horses, rodeos, hunting, fishing, the outdoors and country music. He was one of the founding members of the Professional Cowboy Association over 25 years ago, card #007. He was also a member of the Lonestar Rodeo Company, The American Cowboy Association and The International Professional Rodeo Association. He had a very successful rodeo career and was a genuine champion in and out of the arena. Jimmy Lee is survived and will forever be remembered by his loving wife of 52 years; Judy Dale or J.D. as he called her, two sons and daughters-in-law, Lee Bo and Angi Wilhite and Clint and Jennifer Wilhite; three grandsons, Pecos, Kota, and Wyatt Wilhite; and two granddaughters, Savannah and Clara Wilhite; sisters-in-law, Tootsie Parks, Brenda Bragg and brother-in-law Braxton Bragg; nieces: Kathy Inman and family, Julie Goodrich and family, Sylvia Thomas and family, Susan Scott and family and Cynthia Walker and family; nephews: Kenny Wilhite and family, Gerald Parks and family,Terry Dalton and family, Kevin Bragg and family, Brett Benjamin and family, and Scott Benjamin and family; and best friend of 65 years, Jimmy Gurley, A.K.A. Snouse. He is preceded in death by his precious daughter, Debbie Wilhite; his parents, H.V. and Eula Wilhite; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, A.J. and Bertha Benjamin; his brother Kenneth Wilhite; and his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Bud Parks, Faye and Bobby Dalton, and Jim and Nina Benjamin. Pallbearers will be Pecos Wilhite, Kota Wilhite, Wyatt Wilhite, Brett Hayden Benjamin, Rope Inman, Will Bradley, Kenny Wilhite and Brett Benjamin. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Gurley, Wayne Sanders, Cliff Goodrich, Ed Edens, Joey Holcomb, Dennis Morris, Bobby Inman, Tommy Melvin, Tom Moffitt, Grey Land, and a host of rodeo buddies. Jimmy Lee has made that last inevitable ride to the country up there where the grass grows lush, green and stirrup high, the water runs cool, clear and deep where he heard, welcome home cowboy, your entry fees have been paid. Magnolia Funeral Home has been honored to serve the family of Mr. Jimmy Lee Wilhite.
