He went to his heavenly home on June 15, 2018. He had one brother, Tim Littlejohn, and two sisters, Tammy (Elbert) Jones, and Tabitha (Jeff) Bobo. Tony married Trudy Elizabeth Hight April 21, 1989. They had two children, Hannah Elizabeth Littlejohn and Jacob Charles (Deanna) Littlejohn. Tony was an ordained minister of the United Pentecostal Church International, serving as youth leader and Sunday School teacher for many years in Corinth and as Assistant Pastor in New Albany, MS. Tony managed a retail store in Savannah before his illness. He was an active person who enjoyed the outdoors. When he could manage days off, he and his brother, Tim could be found somewhere on the lakes competing in a bass tournament. Early in his illness when getting into a bass boat was no longer possible, he talked of getting on a pontoon boat and bass fishing, or hunting some of the deer he could see from his back porch. He often talked of getting the family together for barbecued ribs from the grill on the back porch of the family home in Michie, TN. Tony spent much of his life since his 50th birthday in either Baptist East Hospital and Methodist Hospital in Memphis, or in Savannah, TN Hospital or Magnolia Hospital in Corinth, MS, and finally this year, since January, in Jackson Hospital in Jackson, TN. Many times, during these long hospital stays, Tony would say, “I just want to go home.” In each of the eight years since his illness began; Tony was in the hospital – often in intensive care, for weeks and months at a time. Because of his paralysis, he was confined to either a bed or a wheelchair while in these hospitals, and even when he was at home. He endured many needles, IV’s and ports and pic lines, ventilators, bipaps, bronchoscopies, and dialysis. Handfuls of pills and shots became the norm for Tony. Because he was unable to process protein, even minor sores would not heal. Many times, during these long hospital stays, Tony would say, “I just want to go home.” Tony could not be outside much, although the weather might be good – he just couldn’t stay warm. When he could go outside in his wheelchair, he could be seen bundled in blankets and with a toboggan on his head – even when the sun was bright and warm. During his illness, Tony touched many lives by his indomitable spirit. Many doctors, nurses and hospital staff would be amazed by what he had gone through and still would manage to joke, tease and smile through it all. When asked, “How are you still alive and able to keep going with everything you’ve been through?” He would smile and say, “God saved me and kept me here for a purpose. I just have to find out what that purpose is. Until then, I’m going to trust Him to take care of me.” Tony loved his family and often said the only thing he wanted was an assurance that he would meet all of them again in heaven. Magnolia Funeral Home has been honored to serve the family of Mr. Tony Charles Littlejohn. A verse that would describe Tony’s valiant fight can be found in II Timothy 4:7 and 8. “ I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” Tony wanted to come home. He did not get to come home to Michie, TN, but he did get to go to his heavenly home. Magnolia Funeral Home has been honored to serve the family of Mr. Tony Charles Littlejohn
