Verdie "Bittie" Durbin

Verdie M. “Bittie” Durbin, 94, of Michie, TN, passed away on Monday, August 13, 2018 at her residence. She was born in McNairy County, TN on June 18, 1924 to the late Stanford and Verdie Poindexter Ganus. Mrs. Verdie was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church - Michie. She will forever be remembered in the hearts of her family and friends. Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 pm Thursday, August 16, 2018 and from 12 Noon till service time Friday, August 17, 2018 at First Baptist Church – Michie. A celebration of Bittie’s life will be held at 2 pm, Friday, August 17, 2018 at First Baptist Church – Michie officiated by Bro. Ben Martin and Bro. Brian Rainey. Eulogies will be offered by Richard Statham, Tim Durbin and Christie Tucker. Interment will follow in Carter Cemetery – Michie. Her grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Magnolia Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements. Those left to honor Bittie’s memory include her sons: Anthony Durbin and wife Darlene of Michie, Tim Durbin and wife Martha of Michie, Phillip Durbin and wife Denese of Wheeler, MS; her daughters: Regenia Wigginton and husband Jerry of Michie, Rebecca Statham and husband Richard of Michie; her grandchildren: Kim Ridley (Steve), Amanda Mangum (Joe Mike), Jeremy Wigginton (Marcia), Christie Tucker (Scott), Jay Durbin (Jamie), Brianna McAlpin (Micah), Lee Durbin (Hannah), Grace Durbin, Misty DiRenzo Romo; 14 great-grandchildren: her brother: Warren Ganus and wife Celia of Horn Lake, MS; her brother-in-law: Jamie Cornelius of Savannah, TN; her sister-in-law: Janice Ganus of Adamsville, TN; other relatives and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years: Ernest Lee Durbin, her parents: Stanford and Verdie Poindexter Ganus; her grandson: Larry Briggs; her brother: Wayne Ganus; her sisters: Nona Gray, Jewel Moore, Mable Waddell, and Nancy Cornelius.
