A Celebration of Life service for W. C. Eaker, 96 of Corinth, MS, will be Sunday, March 24, 2019 at 2:00 P M at Tate Baptist Church with Military Honors. Interment will follow at Booneville City Cemetery. Bro. Mickey Trammel and Al Woodhouse will officiate the service. Visitation will be Sunday, March 24, 2019 from 1:00 P M until service time at Tate Baptist Church. Mr. Eaker passed away Friday, March 15, 2019 at Cornerstone Health and Rehab. He was born March 24, 1922 in Union County, MS to Adolphus Carroll Eaker and Grace Neoma Staggs Eaker. He was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Tate Baptist Church. W. C. attended Ingomar High School where he graduated in 1939. He graduated from University of Mississippi in 1949 with a Bachelor Degree of Arts in Education He went on to get his Masters of Education in 1950 from the University of Mississippi. He returned to the University and received another Masters of Social Science in 1963. He taught at Batesville High School where he was history teacher and high school Principal for five years. He finished his teaching career at Northeast Mississippi Community College where he taught for 33 years. W. C. was inducted into the service on October 24, 1942 and entered the service on November 7, 1942 at Camp Shelby, Mississippi. SGT Eaker served with the 1257th Army Air Force during WWII receiving the Europe-Africa-Middle Ease Campaign Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the WWII Victory Medal. He received an honorable discharge with a certificate of honor and faithful service to his country on March 14, 1946 at Camp Shelby. After his retirement and his marriage to June in 1989, W. C. loved to travel and spend his summers at The Alton Bay Christian Conference Center in New Hampshire, where he loved to fish with his friend, Al Woodhouse and his grandson, Buddy. He has also traveled to Rome and England. W. C. loved going to McDonald’s, it did not matter if he was in New Hampshire or Mississippi. W. C. played the harmonica and sang and enjoyed going to Sharing Hearts and the Bishop Center. He liked doing crossword puzzles and always had to know what was going on with the weather. W. C. loved his family and friends and found pleasure in spending time with them. He was very involved in the local Gideon’s chapter. He is survived by his son, Bill Eaker, Jr. and wife Angie of Mesa, Arizona; his daughter, Elizabeth Grace "Beth" Eaker of Senatobia, MS; his step children, Linda Allard and husband Chip of New Hampshire, Gayle Moore and husband Mike of Corinth, MS, Bill Curtis and wife Mary of New Hampshire and Stephen Curtis and wife Caroline of Oundle, UK; 11 step grandchildren and 11 step great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his 1st wife, Imogene Bynum Eaker; his 2nd wife, June Whirley Schrieber Eaker; his father, Adolphus Carroll Eaker; his mother, Grace Neoma Staggs Eaker; his brothers, Paul Ramer Eaker, Broadus Reginald Eaker and George Olen Eaker and his sisters, Ophelia Eaker Williams and Ruth Eaker Beasley. Pallbearers will be Michael "Boogie" Moore, Ben Moore, Joe Moore, Jared Moore, Jeff Lee and Sammy Lee. In Lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Gideon's International, P.O.
