Alma Austin, a cherished loving, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, great aunt, and dear friend. She passed away peacefully into her Heavenly Father’s loving arms on April 21, 2026. She was born March 4, 1937 in Counce, TN.

Alma lived a life of love and dedication to her family. She loved her church, loved to cook, loved flowers, and had an unwavering work ethic.

For most of her life, she worked in restaurants as a waitress/cook. She loved serving people. She started her career at Little Andy’s in Counce, TN where she met the love of her life, Bobby Austin. She also worked at Michie Elementary School with the afternoon program. She loved the kids and they loved and adored Ms. Alma. Everyone she came in contact with loved Ms. Alma. She just had that kind of affect on people because of her loving nature and kindness. She was always the same every time you saw her.

She loved her daughter, Debra and her husband Daniel. She lived with them the last 2 months of her life and they treated her like a Queen. They took care of her until she passed away. Her grandson, Trae, has always been the apple of her eye and now he made her a great-grandmother with her sweet Parker Anne. One of the last things she said Thursday evening as Parker sat beside her on the bed was, “Ain’t she pretty”.

Alma is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Debra Ballard (Daniel), grandsons Trae Bain (Caitlin), Trevor Ballard (Olivia), Brayden Ballard (Allie). 4 great-granddaughters Parker Anne Bain, Briarlynn Ballard, Willow Ballard, and Paisley Ballard. They sure loved their “Granny”. A loving sister Lola “Sue” Smith; A special niece, Shelia Moore; A special sister-in-law and friend, Donna Austin. Two special ladies that were like daughters, Maurica Brown Ross and Karen Stutts Barbee; and a host of other family members and friends.

Alma was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Bobby R. Austin. Her beloved mother, Leller Parson, father, Archie Parson; sisters Ruby Smith, and Thelma Cartwright; brothers William “Hoss’ Parson, Arlon “Ross”Parson; Coye Parson: and Virgil Parson; a special niece Betty Sue Parson Webb, and 2 special brothers-in-law Lowell “Pete” Smith and Ottie Smith.

Visitation will be held Thursday, April 23, 2026 at Magnolia Funeral Home -East located 2024 Hwy 72 East Corinth, MS. A celebration of Alma’s life with be held on Friday, April 24, 2006 at 11:00 am at Michie First Church Michie, TN with Bro. Ben Martin officiating. Pallbearers are Trevor Ballard, Brayden Ballard, Chad Austin, Blake Austin, David Smith, and Rickey Smith. Honorary pallbearers are Tom Parson, Ronnie Cartwright, Bob Cartwright, Tommy Moore, Landon Moore, Waylon Grimes, and Rhett Grimes.

She will be missed tremendously and will always remain in the hearts of her family and friends as she was loved by so many.
