Alma Lou Morton, beloved homemaker and cherished member of her community, passed away on April 26, 2026, at the Summerford Nursing Home and Rehab in Falkville, Alabama. Born on April 25, 1946, in Burnsville, Mississippi, Alma Lou lived a life defined by her devotion to family, faith, and the simple joys that enriched her days.
Throughout her life, Alma Lou found great happiness in reading and enjoyed the comforting rituals of watching soap operas. Her sharp mind was a constant source of engagement through crossword and word search puzzles, which she worked on with enthusiasm. Gardening was another passion—she loved tending to her flowers with great care and delight. Travel allowed her to broaden her horizons, and she took special pride in teaching her Sunday School class at Biggersville First Baptist Church, sharing her wisdom and kindness with others in her community.
Alma Lou is survived by her daughters, Susie Rencher and her husband Scotty, and Cindy Gahagan and her husband Paul. She was a devoted grandmother to six grandchildren: Terry Nash, Joshua Rencher and his wife Anna, Jordyn Rencher, Brandon Gahagan and his wife Diamel, Brent Gahagan, and Brandi Gahagan. Her legacy of love continues through thirteen great-grandchildren, as well as through her brother Tom Lambert and his wife Debbie, and her sister Juanell Potts. Alma Lou also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends who will remember her warmth and generosity.
Her family mourns the loss of a wonderful mother and sister while remembering those who passed before her: her father, Sherman Lambert; her mother, Frankie Lambert; her brothers Maxi Lambert, Ronald Lambert, Allen Lambert, and Arthur Lambert; and her sister Mozelle Linton
Alma Lou Morton’s kindness, faith, and dedication to her family will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her. Her memory stands as a testament to a life well-lived, filled with love, faith, and quiet strength. Magnolia Funeral Home has been honored to serve the family of Mrs. Alma Lou Morton.
