Alva Barnett, a devoted family man and skilled line operator, passed away peacefully at his home in Corinth, Mississippi, on June 14, 2026, at the age of 72. Born on May 13, 1954, in Corinth, Alva lived a life marked by dedication, kindness, and an unwavering commitment to those he loved.

Alva dedicated several years of his life as a line operator for ITT, where his work ethic and practical skills were widely respected. Beyond his professional career, he was known for a remarkable talent: he could fix any kind of small engine with ease and precision—a skill that served his family well. Alva’s generosity was a defining feature of his character; he was always the first to offer help whenever it was needed.

His greatest joy was his family, especially his grandchildren, whom he cherished deeply. He took immense pride in escorting them to school each day, creating routines filled with love and care. Alva’s warm spirit extended into his hobbies and social life, where he found pleasure in fishing, mowing yards, and enjoying coffee with his longtime friends at Loyds. His days were often brightened by the companionship of his beloved dog, Maggie, who remained by his side through his later years.

Alva’s family was central to his life. He is survived by his son, Dusty Barnett (Brittany); daughters, Shelia Billingsley (Mickey) and Marsha Moss (Greg); and his four treasured grandchildren: LeAnna Billingsley, Laney Billingsley, Kenslee Barnett, and Kaylee Barnett. He is also remembered fondly by his brothers, Stevie Barnett (Vicky) and Tommy Barnett (Gladys), and his sister, Nancy Smith; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 51 years, Judy Barnett; his parents, Eugene Barnett and Mary Barnett Hillis; and his brothers, Travis Barnett and Jerry Barnett. The loss of such a stalwart presence will be deeply felt by all who knew him.

A visitation to honor Alva Barnett’s life will be held on June 17, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Magnolia Funeral Home – South, located at 741 Hwy US-45, Corinth, MS 38834. The funeral service will follow at the same location on the same day at 2pm with interment in Magnolia Gardens.. Bro. Donnie Waldrop will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Mickey Billingsley, Greg Moss, Tim Collins and John Curtis Hearn.

Alva’s legacy is one of steadfast love, selflessness, and an enduring passion for family and community. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know him. May he rest in peace. Magnolia Funeral Home has been honored to serve the family of Mr. Alva Barnett.
