Amel Norman Jr., a retired mechanic for Western Auto, passed away on October 20, 2023, at the age of 68 surrounded by his loving family in Walnut, MS. Born on October 11, 1955, in Memphis, TN, Amel was the beloved son of Amel Norman Sr. and Lois Pruitt Norman. Throughout his life, Amel touched the lives of many with his dedication to his career and his passion for spending time with his loved ones. Amel's career as a mechanic spanned several decades, during which he worked diligently to provide quality service to the community. He was known for his exceptional skills and expertise in fixing cars. Beyond work, Amel found joy in various activities. He loved playing softball and was always eager to join friendly matches with others in the community. When he wasn't on the field or working under the hood of a car, Amel cherished moments spent with his family and grandchildren. Their laughter and happiness brought him immense joy.
In addition to his accomplishments in his career and personal life, Amel proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy. His military service demonstrates his patriotism and commitment to protecting the freedoms cherished by all Americans. Amidst this time of grief and loss, Amel will be remembered for his hard work ethic, unwavering love for family, and enduring friendship with those who were fortunate enough to know him. Visitation is scheduled on Sunday, October 22, 2023, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Magnolia Funeral Home - East. A Celebration of Amel's life will take place on Monday, October 23rd at Magnolia Funeral Home - East at 2:00 PM officiated by Bro. Randy Buse, with interment to follow at the Norman Burial Site in Walnut, MS. Pallbearers inlude Josh Waldrop, Don Stubenrauch, Jack Harris, Jason Hodge, Will Paul, and Lace Wycoff. Honorary pallbearers inlude Ethan Waldrop, Nicholas Stubenrauch, and Jacob Stubenrauch. Amel is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Donna Norman, his devoted daughters, Pamela Rutherford and Victoria Waldrop (Ethan), his son-in-law: Donald Stubenrauch; his grandchildren, Nicholas Stubenrauch, Rebecca Stubenrauch, Jacob Stubenrauch, Bethany-Ann Waldrop, and Alexandria Waldrop; his great grandchildren, Mason, Avery, Grayson, and Aysia; as well as his sister, Linda Learned. He will also be fondly remembered by numerous extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Amel Norman Sr. and Lois Pruitt Norman; his sisters, Dorothy Picheloupe and Lonetta Smith; and a granddaugher, Alanah Rutherford. Amel Norman Jr., a man of integrity, dedication, and love, will forever remain in our hearts. His legacy lives on through the memories he leaves behind.
