Anita Carolyn Thompson entered her eternal home in heaven on July 7, 2025, at the age of 89.A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at Magnolia Funeral Home in Corinth, Mississippi. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 AM.A beloved resident of Azalea Court Assisted Living in Headland, AL, for the past 14 years, Carolyn also spent many meaningful years in Corinth, MS; Red Bay, AL; and Abbeville, AL. Born in Corinth on October 29, 1935, she was the daughter of Samuel Oakley and Nina Mae Parker Gibbs. She was a proud graduate of Corinth High School and attended Blue Mountain College. Carolyn was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was dearly loved and will be remembered for her warm heart, kind spirit, and unwavering faith. She truly had a servant’s heart—often creating and sharing handmade crafts to lift the spirits of others. Holidays were especially meaningful to her. Whether she was decorating with joy, donning festive attire, or delighting children with her famous spider web cape at Halloween, Carolyn made every celebration brighter. Her love for the Lord was evident in all she did, and she shared her faith generously with those around her. Most of all, she adored her family and devoted her life to loving and caring for them. Affectionately known as “Grandma” by many, she beamed with pride when showing off pictures of her children, grandchildren, and, most recently, great-grandchildren. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, James, Ray, and Milton Gibbs; her husband, Reamilus H. (R.H.) Thompson; and her son, John David Thompson. She leaves to cherish her memory her children: Kevin (Barbara) Thompson, Gerry (Geni Payne) Thompson, Shari (Ira) Bonner, and Marc (Cindy) Thompson; her bonus daughter, Leigh (Jeremy) Glenn; her sister, Diana Gibbs Sanders; her grandchildren: Boo Jean Thompson, Josh (Katie) Bostick, Jake (Lucy) Bostick, Justin Thompson, and Maddi Miles; several step-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews; and her beloved great-grandchildren, James Bostick and Esther Bostick. The family wishes to express deep gratitude to the caring staff at Azalea Court Assisted Living. You became family to our mother, and she loved you dearly. To the compassionate caregivers from Hearts and Hearts Caregiving Service, thank you for always answering our call with kindness. We are especially thankful to Southern Care Hospice for your exceptional care in her final days—we are forever indebted to you. Carolyn's legacy of love, faith, and joyful generosity will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Magnolia Funeral Home has been honored to serve the family of Ms. Anita Carolyn Thompson.
