Obituary

Barbara Ann Sappington, was born on August 15, 1942, in Prentiss County, MS. She transitioned peacefully from this world on December 17, 2025, at her son, Greg's home in Iuka, MS.

Barbara will forever be remembered for her strength of character and her unwavering dedication to her family. While she worked at Avon in Illinois and Fred's in Booneville, her proudest role was as a devoted U.S. Air Force wife, supporting her husband while nurturing her two children. Barbara was a tireless advocate for her family's happiness, demonstrating daily what it meant to be a loving wife and mother.

Known for her headstrong personality, Barbara had a unique way of ensuring that those around her always felt welcomed in her home. Her kindness and adventurous spirit allowed her to connect deeply with those she loved. Family meant everything to Barbara, and spending time with her son, Greg and Rhonda and sister, Betty brought her immeasurable joy.

Her hobbies reflected her vibrant personality. Barbara adored traveling, seeking out new experiences and creating lasting memories with her loved ones. She found solace in her arts and crafts, showcasing her exceptional talent as a painter. Additionally, her passion for NASCAR was undeniable; Talladega was not just a racetrack for her, but a place where excitement and camaraderie thrived. The thrill of the races brought her great joy, as did her trips to Tunica, where she enjoyed the lively atmosphere and shared laughter with family and friends.

As we celebrate the life of Barbara Ann Sappington, we honor her indomitable spirit and the affection she so freely gave. She leaves behind a legacy of love and adventure that will forever resonate in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known her. While we grieve her passing, we take comfort in the many beautiful memories she gifted us. Barbara is survived by her sons, Greg Sappington (Rhonda Wilbanks) and Tim Sappington (Cindy); 3 grandchildren, Craig Sappington (Christine), Cole Sappington (C. T.) and Courtney McCray (TJ); 7 great grandchildren; sister, Betty Sappington (Larry Huddleston); brother, Jimmy Stevens (Anesia); caregiver, Danita Wilbanks; other relatives and a host of friends. She is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Everett Wayne Sappington; father, Robert Stevens; mother, Rozella Tolar Stevens; brothers, Billy Stevens and Bobby Stevens; and her brother-in-law, Wesley Sappington.
