Betty Sue Scott Bumpas, 88, of Corinth, MS Passed away peacefully from this life in the presence of her family on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at Dogwood Assisted Living in Corinth, MS. She was born March 19, 1938, in Corinth, MS to the late Bill and Bertha “Gurley" Scott. A Celebration of Betty’s life is set for 2pm on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at Tate Baptist Church with interment in Magnolia Gardens in Corinth, MS. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 22, 2026, from 12pm - 2pm at Tate Baptist Church. Bro. Mickey Trammel will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Bobby Alexander, Dustin Alexander, Kavin Warren, Richard Tenhet, Jimmy Hastings, Dewayne Orman and Andy McDaniel. Honorary pallbearers will be her Dennis Shirley, Mike Madison, Christopher Schmidt, Barrett Schmidt, Noah Zapf, Hudson Zapf, Lucas Zapf, Canaan Tucker, and her Sunday School Class at Tate Baptist Church.
Betty was a dedicated member of Tate Baptist Church and will be fondly remembered for her love of family and friends. She enjoyed games, listening to gospel and George Strait music, traveling, and treasured time with the people she called her “grandchildren”. Known for her sassiness and honesty, Betty touched many lives.
Betty dedicated her life to helping others, leaving behind a profound legacy of 25 years as a nurse for Dr. Frank Davis, followed by 28 years of service at Walmart Supercenter in Corinth. Her compassionate nature and steadfast work ethic impacted countless lives in Corinth.
Betty is survived by Tom Berry of Vancouver, Washington, Mike Beasley of Atlanta, Georgia, Cathey Esquibel of Phoenix, Arizona, and Laura Simpson of Corinth, MS and a host of cousins and friends she adored. She is preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, “Dude” Bumpas; sons, Scotty Bumpas, Randy Bumpas; parents, Bill and Bertha Mae "Gurley" Scott; brother, Jim Scott; and her sisters, Minnie Prior and Glenda Berry. Magnolia Funeral Home has been honored to serve the family of Mrs. Betty Bumpas.
