Betty Jean Waddell

Betty Jean Waddell, 91, of Corinth, MS, passed away on Friday, February 5, 2021 at Whitfield Nursing Home. She was born in Corinth, MS on June 17, 1929 to the late Ruby and Marvin Waddell and graduated from Corinth High School in 1948. Betty worked for Lee Hiway Florist before moving to Memphis, TN where she worked for Watkins Florist. She also served as secretary for Union Avenue Church of Christ and later for Woodland Hills Church of Christ. Betty was a member of Berclair Church of Christ and will forever be remembered in the hearts of those she loved. A celebration of Betty’s life will be held on Sunday, February 7, 2021 at 2 pm at Box Chapel UMC Cemetery officiated by Dr. John Dodd. Interment will follow in Box Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers include John Kelley, Randy Essary, Ricky Essary, Westley Essary, Rocky Essary, and Nathan Holloway. Magnolia Funeral Home - East is entrusted with the arrangements. Those left to honor Betty’s memory include her nephews, Randy Essary (Vicki), Ricky Essary (Gwen), and George Waddell; nieces, Judith Kelley and Kerra Roberson; numerous great nieces, great nephews, other relatives and many friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, James Donald Waddell; her sister, JoAnn Essary Downs; her nephews, Ronnie Essary and Danny Waddell; her niece, Lisa Waddell; and her great niece, Denise Mason.
