Bobby was born on June 18, 1942, in Rienzi, Mississippi, and on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, he slipped peacefully from his home in Corinth into the arms of the Lord.
He began his schooling at Macedonia before moving to Glen Elementary, later graduating from Rienzi High School in 1961. From his earliest days working on the family farm, Bobby learned the value of steady hands and honest work—lessons that stayed with him all his life.
He first put those hands to use as an organ mechanic at Wurlitzer, then on the road with Tom’s Peanuts, delivering goods and building relationships with the same easy smile people came to love. After marrying his sweetheart, Nelda, in 1963, Bobby followed a new calling and stepped into the world of car sales. Before long, he opened his own dealership—B&W Used Cars—where he faithfully served his community for 59 years. Countless families drove away in cars he sold, but even more left with a story, a laugh, or a memory of Bobby’s kindness.
Away from work, Bobby found joy in simple, spirited things—watching NASCAR races, racing dirt bikes, casting a line into quiet water. But nothing brought him peace quite like being outdoors. He loved his yard, especially the hum of a mower beneath him. Through every season, you could find Bobby outside, tending to the yard he was proud of. A life built on hard work, steady love, and the quiet pleasures of a good day.
Those left to honor Bobby’s memory include his wife of 62 years, Nelda Kiddy Whittemore; sons, Rodney Whittemore (Becky) and Shawn Whittemore (Brandi); grandchildren, Caden Whittemore and his girlfriend Haleigh Selph and Alana Whittemore and her boyfriend Mickey Chism; brothers, Jacky Whittemore and Johnny Whittemore (Tammie); sister, Barbara South; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Ruby Whittemore; brothers, Daron Whittemore and Bobby’s twin, Billy Whittemore and sister, Betty Ruth Whittemore. Magnolia Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Mr. Bobby Whittemore.
