Bro. Jimmy Daniel

Bro. Jimmy Daniel, 77, of Iuka, Mississippi, stepped into eternity with his Lord on Tuesday evening, August 2, 2022. He was born to the late Marshall and Dudgar Parnell Daniel on January 13, 1945 and graduated from Iuka High School in 1962. Jimmy Daniel was first and foremost, a devoted fan. A fan of his God, a fan of his family, a fan of Ole Miss, and a fan of you. It didn’t matter where he found you, who you were, or what you were doing, as far as Jimmy was concerned you and he were adopted siblings by way of the cross and had all of the important things in common. He had little interest in flamboyance (or structure. or conformity. or giving up at anything), and poured all of his energies into being helpful wherever he could, whenever he could, whether or not anyone was watching. If you saw him on Sunday behind the pulpit, he would be the exact same man you saw cheering on his beloved St. Louis Cardinals: a devoted fan of a team he couldn’t wait to introduce you to.
After spending time as a Liberty National agent, he continued his working career at World Color, where he was nicknamed “preacher”. Preacher saw denominational division as a hindrance and helped spearhead the North MS Prayer Warriors in an effort to bring Christians together. After preaching at various local churches, he founded and pastored New Beginning Fellowship for the last 15 years, where his dogged devotion to encouragement blessed everyone who darkened the doors. He took every opportunity to sing, and when there weren’t enough opportunities he created more by singing with The Harmoniers. Preacher lived out the verse which commands “rejoice in the Lord always” and loved nothing more than sharing an infectious laugh with anyone who would join in. The world will be quieter without him. We are confident that Bro. Jimmy in heaven is the same as Bro. Jimmy here: still a fan, now sitting in the best seats the house can offer, cheering on those still playing. He will be missed and forever loved. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Cathy Daniel; his children, Amy Reaves (Chip), David Daniel (Mylinda), and Susan Daniel (Lyndsey), his grandchildren, Walker BoBo, Lauren BoBo, Tristan Daniel, Sarah Daniel, and Giovanni Hill; his sister, Linda Wallace (Jerald), his brothers-in-law, James Morris and Ralph Tucker; his sister-in-law, Janet Logue, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, church family, and many friends.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Joyce Robertson (Hurchel), Virginia Morris, and Annette Tucker; and his brother-in-law, Jeff Logue.  A Celebration of Bro. Jimmy’s life will be on Friday, August 5, 2022 at 2 pm at Harmony UMC in Iuka officiated by Bro. Kenneth Richardson and Bro. Jason Roberts. Visitation is scheduled for 5-8 pm Thursday, August 4, and 12 noon till service time Friday, August 5, at Harmony UMC in Iuka. Pallbearers include David Daniel, Tristan Daniel, Chip Reaves, T.C. Parnell, Jay Glover, and Jackie Morris. Honorary pallbearers include the North Mississippi Prayer Warriors. Interment will follow in Harmony Cemetery.
