A Celebration of David Lee Ray's life is set for Sunday, September 27, 2026. Visitation will be 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. with services to follow. All services will be held at Oakland Baptist Church.

Dr. Randy Bostick, Bro. Shannon Battles, and Bill Harland will be officiating the service. Pallbearers will be Rick Bridges, Dr. Ronnie Cummins, Bill Harland, Jerry Malone, Lonnie McKee, Steve Patrick, Jimmy Stricklen, Zeb Taylor, and Danny Turner. Honorary pallbearers are the men of David Ray’s Sunday School Class.

David Lee Ray, 68, of Corinth, MS passed from this life on Thursday, September 17th, at home with his wife of 42 years by his side. David was born December 13, 1957, in Port Gibson, MS. He was a graduate of Eupora High School and attended professional technical schools. He was the co-owner of Rayco, Inc. for 27 years.

On September 22, 1984, David was united in marriage to the love of his life, Tammie Butler Ray. Their life together was built on the foundation of faith in their Lord and savior Jesus Christ. David was actively involved at Oakland Baptist Church where he taught RA’s, 7th and 8th grade boys, and adult Sunday school classes. He also faithfully served as a deacon, chairman of multiple committees, a counselor at youth camps, sang in the choir, and led Bible studies. It was his mission to see others come to the Lord, challenge others to dig deeper into the word, and grow spiritually. One of his proudest legacies was seeing the young men he taught and mentored giving their lives to the Lord and surrendering to the ministry. His greatest joy was his family. He loved watching his sons grow into Christian young adults and eagerly anticipated the next visit from his precious grandson, Mason and granddaughter, Winry. David found great joy studying the Bible, getting together each Tuesday night to play cards with the guys, watching Atlanta Braves, playing golf, and hunting.

Coram Deo, a Latin phrase meaning “before the face of God” or “in the presence of God”, was a phrase he often quoted to his boys, but more importantly the way he strived to live his life - in the constant presence of God, for His honor and glory.

David leaves behind a loving family including his wife, Tammie Ray; children, Aaron Ray (Emma) and William Ray (fiancée Andee); grandchildren, Mason Ray and Winry Ray; 5 sisters and 2 brothers, Lona Roberts (Victor M. Roberts-deceased), Dan Ray (Polly Ray-deceased), Otis Ray (Sheryll), Jenny Dawson Baskette (Lew Dawson-deceased and Stan Baskette-deceased), Martha Magee (Rick), Patricia Palmertree (Byron), Rachel Ray, Mother-In-Love, Lois Glidwell Streetman (Darnell Glidwell-deceased) and Buddy Streetman); sister in law, Sandie Nix; 17 nieces and nephews, and a host of family and friends.

David is preceded in death by his parents, DL and Adelaide Ray; father-in-law, 3 brothers-in-law, a sister-in-law, and several aunts and uncles.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Center Well Home Health - especially to his nurse, Heather Williams, for her faithful, compassionate care and special bond she and David shared.
