Emma Jo Latch, a beloved matriarch and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2026, at the age of 93. Born on December 22, 1932, Jo lived a life filled with devotion to her family, unwavering faith, and an enduring commitment to service. She wasn't afraid of hard work, being employed at several local businesses including Wurlitzer, Wood's Department Store, Bolivar Drugs and many others. She was a beloved member of Wheeler Grove Baptist Church where she lived out her faith for all to see. Jo's love for people was manifested through her passion for cooking. She was known for her delectable homemade donuts and her eagerness to feed those around her. Often found in the kitchen, Jo took great joy in preparing meals for church gatherings, embodying a spirit of generosity that touched the hearts of many. Her ability to bring people together was a hallmark of her character, reflecting her servant's heart and deep commitment to her faith. Throughout her life, Jo cultivated a diverse range of interests. She found tranquility in gardening and was adept at canning foods, enjoying the fruits of her labor throughout the seasons. In her later years, she delighted in playing games such as dominoes and Skipbo with her grandchildren, creating loving memories that will endure for generations. She would even create cozy pallets on the floor for her grandchildren, enhancing their time together with warmth and creativity. Jo served alongside her husband as a pastor’s wife for 36 years, sharing a profound calling to ministry that greatly impacted their congregation and the community. Her supportive partner in faith, she dedicated herself tirelessly to the roles required of her, demonstrating both strength and grace. Jo is survived by her sons, Randy Latch (Lawanta), and Tim Latch (Beth); her daughter, Rhonda Cockrell (Tom); her grandchildren, Jennifer Cupples (Jeff), Dai Moralez, Melinda Reynolds (Brandon), Renee Kee, and Jeremy Latch (Katie); her great grandchildren, Clay Moralez, Trent Ashley, Emma Moralez, Jaxon Cupples, Noah Latch, Grant Ashley, Bentley Kee, Allie Kate Latch, Izzie Kee, Jacie Cupples; her sister-in-law, Sarah Wilson (Dwight); several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Jo was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Bro. Preston Latch; her parents, Staten and Beryl Gant Galyean; her brother, Jimmy Galyean (JoAnn); and her sister, Lillie Mae Mattox (Raymond). Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 pm Friday, February 6, 2026 and from 10-11 am Saturday, February 7, 2026 at Wheeler Grove Baptist Church. Services will be held at 11 am Saturday, February 7, 2026 at Wheeler Grove Baptist Church officiated by Bro. Randy Latch, Bro. Tim Latch, and Dr. Kara Blackard. Interment will follow in Wheeler Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers include Jeremy Latch, Clay Moralez, Trent Ashley, Jaxon Cupples, Noah Latch, and Grant Ashley. Honorary pallbearers include Jeff Cupples and Brandon Reynolds. As a final wish, Jo requested that friends honor her memory by wearing bright colors to her funeral, a fitting tribute to a woman who radiated joy and kindness throughout her life. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Wheeler Grove Baptist Church or Gideon's International. Magnolia Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
