Florence Allen, 91 of Corinth formerly from Leland, Illinois, died Saturday, February 4, 2023 peacefully at the home of her daughter. Florence was born on September 26, 1931 in Alden township in McHenry, Illinois to George and Frieda Marks Pester, Sr. Florence grew up in Sharon, Wisconsin, quitting school her 8th grade year to work to help support her siblings. Florence was a hard worker. She was a dairy farmer for many years before moving to Illinois. In 1967 she went to work in a factory BiltRite, formely Kleen-Lay, as a spot welder and assembly worker. She retired in 2004, after 37 years, and moved to Corinth in 2009 to be near her daughter. She was a member of the Corinth Congretation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Florence, known by many as Grandma Flo Flo, was a dedicated mother, grandmother, great grandma, sister, aunt and a friend. Florence’s family was the most important part of her life. Florence leaves behind her beloved daughter, Dawn Spence of Corinth; granddaughter, Aimee (Clint) Settlemires; 2 grandsons, Chris (Tanea) Bidstrup and Nicholas Bidstrup all of Corinth, MS; great granddaughters, Madison Bidstrup, Alexia Klein and Kylen Bidstrup of Corinth; great grandsons, Benjamin Klein, Christopher and Matthew Bidstrup, Huxley Settlemires of Corinth and Aiden Bidstrup of Booneville; 3 sisters, Evelyn Mullis Delvan of WI, Betty Rupprecht of Madison, WI and Margaret Keller of Earlville, IL; several nieces and nephews; 3 very dear friends, Delores Gunderson of Leland, IL and Robert and Judy Byars of Corinth, MS. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters, Rosalie Snodie and Shirley Brockwell; 1 brother, George Pester, Jr; a grandson, Kenneth Bidstrup; son-in-law, Danny Spence, 4 brothers-in-law, Billy Mullis, Arthur Snodie, Johnny Keller and Jim Brockwell; the father of her daughter, William Hartman. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, March 4, 2023 at 1:00 P M at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Visitation will be Saturday, March 4, 2023 from 10:00 A M until 12:00 P M at Magnolia Funeral Home East. In lieu of flowers please send donations to jw.org or the Alzheimers Association.
