James Howard Cook, 98, went to be with his Lord and Savior on April 25, 2026. Born and raised in Corinth, Mississippi, Howard lived a life rooted in faith, family, and service. As a member of the Methodist Church, he was a faithful servant of Christ who left a lasting impression on those who knew him. Howard served his country honorably in the United States Navy from 1945 to 1946 and again from 1952 to 1954. Following his service, he built a lifelong career as a barber in Corinth, where he became a familiar and trusted presence in the community. Through his work, he formed lasting friendships and touched countless lives over the years. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife of 75 years, Charlotte Ruth Cook, and a loving father to his daughters, Cindi Cook Irwin (Carl) and the late Patti Cook Major (David). His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Hanna Cole (Andy), Jessica Klingler (Jesse), Caroline Upthegrove, Davis Irwin, Kate Tucker (Blaine), Paul Major, and Jay Major (Rebecca). He was also a proud great-grandfather to Tate Copeland, John Davis Upthegrove, Ty Upthegrove, Kylin Irwin, Bella Klingler, Major Klingler, Marilyn Major, Hudson Tucker, Gabriella Tucker, and Sophia Tucker. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at Magnolia Funeral Home – South, Hwy 45 S Corinth, MS with interment to follow in Magnolia Gardens.
