Iver was born March 19, 1949, and he passed from this life Wednesday, March 11, 2026. He lived a life marked by courage, generosity, and a steadfast devotion to others. A proud Army veteran who fought in the Vietnam War, he carried the discipline, resilience, and bravery of his service into every part of his life. Yet beneath that warrior’s strength was a man with a big heart—someone who loved helping people and never hesitated to step in when he was needed.

For many years, Iver worked as a millwright, then transitioned into owning his own business, Ivco, which evolved into a trade that suited his sharp mind and natural problem‑solving abilities. He was trusted with countless projects and responsibilities, and he approached each one with skill, precision, and pride. If something was broken, he could fix it—usually in that signature “Iver way,” all while slipping in his favorite joke: “I’m the one who taught MacGyver everything he knows.” If someone needed help, he showed up. His reliability was a gift to everyone who knew him.

Iver had a collector’s spirit—curious, sentimental, always drawn to the stories behind the things he gathered. He loved the outdoors, especially the lake, where some of his most cherished memories were made. His children will forever hold close the days he spent teaching them how to water ski, cheering them on with that fearless grin of his. A daredevil at heart, Iver lived boldly and without hesitation.

He also had a remarkable sense of humor. In the most awkward or tense moments, he could lighten the room with a perfectly timed joke, easing hearts and reminding everyone that laughter has a place even in difficult times. He was a wonderful friend—steady, loyal, and deeply dependable. You could always count on Iver, and so many people did.

He was liked and loved by countless friends, coworkers, and family members because he lived with sincerity. He worked hard, cared deeply, and treated people with kindness and respect. His presence made life brighter, easier, and more hopeful for those around him.

Those left to honor his memory include his daughter, Kim Vandiver Sparks (Terry); sons, Iver O. Vandiver II, Jacob Vandiver, and Lucas Vandiver (Ashli); mother of his daughter, Carolyn Riddell Wilson; mother of his sons, Jan Rogers; granddogs and grandcats; other relatives and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Gilbert Vandiver; mother, Birdie Bell Vandiver; and his sister, Becky Vandiver Cornelius.

Iver leaves behind a legacy of courage, laughter, and unwavering loyalty. His family and friends will carry his stories, his humor, and his fearless spirit with them always. Those who follow in his footsteps will find that he has left some mighty large shoes to fill.
