James Randell “Randy” Wilson, 58, departed from his earthly home on Saturday, May 17, 2025. Randy never met a stranger. Whether you knew him from school, the ball field, or the car lot, there was no doubt that he had made you laugh at some point in your life. Randy was born on October 24, 1966, to James Wilburn Wilson Jr. and Freda Wilson. From a young age, he loved the game of baseball and was an avid Yankees fan. However, he loved nothing more than being a husband and father… until his grandchildren came along. Randy proudly wore the title, “Pop Pop,” and made sure that the world knew it. He spent many evenings on the lake with his #1 fishing buddy and first grandson, Cade, who thought he hung the moon. Randy was a member of East Booneville Baptist Church and also attended Church of the Crossroads. Randy was a huge supporter of The Freedom Center and loved to attend Living Free Ministries with his brothers in Christ. Randy was a salesman. He held the top salesman title at Crossroads Automotive for many years. Many of Randy’s lifelong friends were made through selling cars. He loved the outdoors and his beautiful dog, Coco.
Randy is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Marta Leigh Hunkapiller Wilson, his four beautiful children: Taylor (Evan) Johnson, Lakin Wilson (Brent), Tyler (Haley) Wilson, and Luke (Cayla) Wilson; his mother, Freda Wilson; two brothers: Tommy (Marea) Wilson and Bebe (Julie) Wilson. He leaves behind nine grandchildren of whom he was most proud: Cade Wilson, Stella Kate Wilson, Grayson Parker, Marleigh Johnson, Salem McVey, Kyndell Champion, Eden Johnson, Everett Johnson, Mary Camryn Wilson, and on Tuesday, he will add two more: James Cross Wilson and Chapel Jane Wilson. He also leaves one niece, Olivia (Kirby) Nixon, four nephews: Preston Cline, Brandon (Anna) Wilson, Jordan (Giovanna) Wilson, and Colton Wilson, along with three great-nephews and one great-niece.
Randy was preceded in death by his father, James Wilburn Wilson Jr., paternal grandparents, Jack and Irene Wilson, and nephew, Bronson Pharr.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, May 19th, at Living Free Ministries, with Tommy Wilson and Tyler Wilson officiating. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m., and a memorial will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The Freedom Center and The Bridge of Burnsville.
