Funeral services for Jeanie Thornton, 83, of Corinth are set for Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 2pm at First Baptist Church of Corinth with interment to follow in Henry Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, November 4, 2023 from 12pm until 2pm at First Baptist Church of Corinth. Dr. Nathan Van Horn will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Nathan Thornton, Nicolas Thornton, Daniel Villaflor, Justin Villaflor, Bob Hardwick and Ronnie Hardwick. Born March 18, 1940 in St. Jospeh, Missouri, Jeanie passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2023 at Dogwood Assisted Living in Corinth. She was a retired elementary school teacher, who taught at Corinth. She also taught kindergarten at Oakland Baptist Church. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Corinth. Jeanie loved her family and friends and loved spending time with her grandchildren and family. She was a member of the Corinth Music Club and Heritage Home Ministries. She taught Sunday School at Oakland Baptist for 20 years and at First Baptist for 5+years. She enjoyed traveling, hosting get togethers at her home for family and friends and taking care of others. Jeanie is survived by her son, Doug Thornton and wife Michelle; daughter, Annette Villaflor and husband Greg; 6 grandchildren, Nathan Thornton (Kaylee), Nicole Redmond (Hunter), Nicolas Thornton (Weslie), Daniel Villaflor (Joy), Justin Villaflor and Grace Villaflor; 4 great grandchildren, Bentley Thornton, Addi Thornton, Reid Thornton and Hazel Villaflor; brothers, Bob Hardwick (Susan) and Ronnie Hardwick (Cosette); sisters, Carol Robbins (Fred), Judy Alexander (John) and Bonnie Cox (Russ); numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Okey Thornton; great grandchild, Jaxon Thornton; her parents, John and Madge Moore Hardwick.
In lieu of flowers the family ask that memorial donations be made to First Baptist Church of Corinth, St Jude's Research Hosptial or Unknown Child Foundation. The family would like to Thank her caregivers: Millie Mayo, Janice McCarter, Phyliss Norton, Christine Watson, all the staff at Dogwood, especially , Bre, Christy and Judy and Gentiva Hospice and Nurse Tiffany.
