Jerry Wayne Fuqua, 72, of Olive Branch, MS passed away, Sunday, March 14, 2021 in Germantown, TN. A memorial service is set for at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 18, 2021 at Longview Heights Baptist Church in Olive Branch, MS. Dr. Wayne Marshall and Bro. Alan Wilson will officiate the service. There will be a visitation from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, Thursday, March 18, 2021 at Longview Heights Baptist Church. Masks are required per family request. A family graveside service will be held Thursday, March 18, 2021 with interment in Henry Cemetery. Jerry was born in Corinth, MS on April 11, 1948 to Cecil Oliver and Ella Jeanette Nash Fuqua. He graduated from Corinth High School in 1966 and pursued a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering graduating from Mississippi State University in 1971. He began a 23-year long career with ITT. Jerry gave his life to Christ in 1973. He attended Mid-America Seminary earning a Master of Arts in Religious Education in 1979. Jerry served in ministry roles at Tate Street Baptist Church, Holly Baptist Church and Glendale Baptist Church all in Alcorn County. In 1998, God moved Jerry to full-time service at Longview Heights Baptist Church where he served in several different leadership positions until his retirement in 2010. His love for missions was evident throughout all his life. Those left to honor Jerry’s memory include his wife of 50 years, Kathy Fuqua of Olive Branch, MS; daughters, Kyra Cossey & husband Jay of Batesville, MS, Kim Campbell & husband Brad of Madison, MS, and Kelley Richardson & husband Chris of Olive Branch, MS; grandchildren, Jay Logann Cossey, Meredith Cossey, Jordan Campbell, Peyton Campbell, and Ella Richardson; brother, Larry Fuqua of Corinth, MS; other relatives and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil Oliver and Ella Jeanette Nash Fuqua. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to Longview Heights Missions at 4501 Goodman Road, Olive Branch, MS 38654.
