Jimmy Allen Pipkin, 79, of Corinth, MS was born on April 17, 194 7 in New Albany, MS and departed this life on Oct 22, 2026at North Alabama Medical Center in Florence, AL after a brief illness. He was raised in Blue Mountain, MS, and was the fourth of five children born to Rev. J. L. Pipkin and Sidney Ash Pipkin. He was the only son out of five children.
Jimmy graduated from Blue Mountain High School, and after high school he earned an Associate’s Degree from Northeast Mississippi Community College. He was a member of the Mississippi National Guard for 8 years. He worked in sales for almost all of his adult life until he was elected Supervisor of the 4th District in Benton County in 2008. He served for two terms, a total of 8 years, until his retirement in 2016.
As a young man, Jimmy enjoyed hunting, raising hunting dogs, playing softball, and riding motorcycles. In his later years, he still enjoyed riding motorcycles every chance he could get. He also loved traveling with his wife, Virginia, and several times they traveled out of the country together on vacations. He traded his love for raising hunting dogs for a love for raising goats. You would often find him at the farm in Benton County tending to his 20+ goats. Jimmy was always known as a hard worker and an honest man who would give you the shirt off his back. Jokingly, his family would often say that you had better ask for it before you just reached and tried to take it. He was known as a “straight shooter”, and if you didn’t want to know where you stood with him it was better just not to ask. But he was also known as a character, always cracking jokes and making people laugh. His voice was loud and stern, but it was filled with love. And he loved his family dearly. He also loved his church, and was a faithful member of Oakland Baptist Church in Corinth, MS.
Jimmy leaves behind a loving wife of 21 years, Virginia Terry Pipkin. He is survived by two children: Jeffrey Pipkin (Christy) of Blue Mountain and Suzanne Wooley (David) of Ripley; six grandchildren: Morgan Pipkin, Cade Pipkin, and Cam Pipkin of Blue Mountain, Hunter Wooley of Memphis, TN, Austin Wooley (Skyla) of Ripley, and Anna Katherine Wooley of Ripley; along with many other family members and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. J. L. and Sidney Ash Pipkin, his wife, Cheri Pipkin; and four sisters, Carolyn Schmidt, Volene Taylor, Marilyn Pulse, and Sheila Bingham.
Pallbearers will be Hunter Wooley, Austin Wooley, Morgan Pipkin, Cade Pipkin, Cam Pipkin, Roger McAlister, and Glen Gresham.
The visitation will be held Tuesday, October 27, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The service will be held Wednesday, October 28, at 11:00 PM. Both will be held at Magnolia Funeral Home-East in Corinth, MS. Burial will be in the Magnolia Gardens in Corinth, MS.. There will be no graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Oasis Medical Center in Corinth, or to the charity of your choosing.
