James Keith Shields, born on July 14, 1962, in Belleview, Illinois, departed this life on August 29, 2025, in Glen, Mississippi. He leaves behind a legacy of dedication and service, having devoted much of his life to both his career and his community.
For 35 years, Keith made significant contributions as an Inspector at Caterpillar, where his meticulous work ethic and professionalism were held in high regard. His commitment to public service extended beyond his career, as he served as a Reserve Deputy for the Alcorn County Sheriff's Office for 16 years, exemplifying his unwavering dedication to ensuring the safety and well-being of his community.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Keith proudly served in the Army National Guard for 26 years. Following the events of September 11, he answered the call to active duty, serving one year in Operation Iraqi Freedom with the 377th Chemical Detachment. His bravery and commitment during this time earned him The Bronze Star Medal, highlighting his valor and dedication to his country.
Keith enjoyed a fulfilling personal life, surrounded by friends and family who cherished him deeply. He is survived by his beloved wife, Cindy Shields; his son, Tyler Shields, along with his girlfriend, Christie Rickman; and his daughter, Kimberly Bloomfield, along with her husband, Andrew. His legacy will also continue through his grandson, Levi Shields, whose bright future reflects the love and guidance Keith bestowed upon his family.
Keith is also survived by his brother, Greg Shields, who shared a bond filled with memories and support throughout their lives. He will be greatly missed not only by his family but also by his cherished companions, Trixie and Hank, his loyal dogs.
Keith was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Clay and Edna Mae Shields, and his sisters, Michelle Beckham and Debra Butchko. Their enduring love and influence will always remain a part of him.
A visitation to honor Keith's life will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service starting at 2:00 PM, both taking place at Magnolia Funeral Home - South in Corinth, Mississippi. Bro. Tommy Callahan with officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Duncan Peters, Jeremy Bragg, Thomas McEwen, Eddie McEwen, Andrew Bloomfield, Chad Strickland and honorary pallbearer Levi Shields.
