Born January 10, 1939 in Alcorn County, MS ., Mr. Elam passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, January 7, 2023 in Memphis, TN. In December of 1960, he married his best friend, Betty, and from then on, you never saw one without the other. He was a retired supervisor for ITT where he worked in tooling. Kenneth was a charter and active member of Pinecrest Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School for many years. He was a true servant of God who was very active in the Backpack Ministry, the Food Pantry and served as Director of Vacation Bible School for many years. Traveling, camping, and going to the beach and the mountains with his family, whom he loved dearly was cherished by him. He always rooted for Ole Miss until he had a change of heart due to his grandchildren attending Mississippi State University, which resulted in a house divided. Spending time with his grandchildren was important to him, which is why he always made sure to be at every sporting event they had. Everything Kenneth did had to be done right. He was meticulous about everything, from working in the yard to washing cars. Those left to share Kenneth’s memory include his daughters, Kimberly A. Sallis (Cary) of Oxford and Tricia L. Tomlinson (Trey) of Corinth; 5 grandchildren, Anna Kate, Abby and Alden Tomlinson and Cara-Anne and Zakery Sallis; brother, Russell Elam (Janice); sisters, Carol Hodges (Kempe) and Wanda Nash: sister-in-law, Barbara Elam; special niece, who was like a daughter, Brandie Counce (Shawn); numerous other nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. He is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Betty Ann Elam; father, Allen Elam; mother, Martha Lillian Potts Elam; brothers, Bobby Elam and David Elam (Janeva) and sisters, Hattie Wilhite and Shelby Jean Elam. Magnolia Funeral Home has been honored to serve the family of Mr. Arie Kenneth Elam.
