Louise Clayton

Lillian Louise Moore Crabtree Clayton passed away Thursday, April 21, 2022 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo MS., after a brief illness.  She was born February 19, 1930, to the late Ode and Lois Williams Moore of Michie, TN. She was pre-deceased by her husband of forty years, Carthel Crabtree of Selmer, TN and afterward by husband George Clayton of Iuka, MS.

Louise was a hairdresser most of her life.  She lived life to the fullest and remained active until the end.  She loved fishing, games of all kinds and dancing, and loved to compete.  Louise was known as an enthusiastic and competitive basketball player in high school….if she was going to participate, she was in it to win.  She was also, however, a rule follower and believer in fair play…..and quick to tell others when they weren’t following the rules. Louise was an avid collector of pre-depression glassware and a talented quilter.

Louise was a loyal member of Trinity Baptist Church in Michie, Tennessee and her faith, family and friends all enriched her life. She was an active member of the Corinth, Mississippi chapter of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, the American Legion and the Michie, Tennessee Senior Citizens Club.  The last years of her life were happily and enjoyably spent among caring friends at Traceway Retirement Community in Tupelo, Mississippi.

She is survived by her daughter Trudy Copeland (John) of Germantown, TN, granddaughter Amy Copeland Crabtree (Cham) and grandson Chris Copeland (Megan) all of Memphis, four great-grandchildren, Amelia Crabtree, Hyde Crabtree, Wills Crabtree and Henry Copeland, all of

Memphis, TN., a sister-in-law Rebecca Moore of Michie, TN and by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Travis Moore, J. R (Bully) Moore, Paul Moore, Marie Brown, and Juanita (Tot) Taylor.

Graveside services will be Sunday,  April 24, 2022, at 3:00 PM at Union Grove Methodist Church Cemetery, Hwy 142, Selmer, TN. with Bro. George Kyle officiating.
