A Celebration of Life Service for Marlon Carpenter, 78 of Glen, MS, will be Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Magnolia Funeral Home - East with visitation from 12:00 PM till service time. Interment will follow in Liberty Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. James Voyles will officiate the service. Pallbearers include Nathan Wiginton, Tracy Lambert, Matt Phipps, Caleb Cole, Jared Cole, Jeremiah Rorie. Honorary pallbearers include James Rorie and Owen Scott. Marlon was born September 11, 1947 in Prentiss County, MS to the late Homer and Ilene Carpenter. He was a hardworking man who found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved spending time fishing, working in his yard, and tending to his garden. He had a strong interest in cars and enjoyed anything related to working on or being around them. Marlon was deeply devoted to his family and cherished the time he spent with them. Though he was soft-spoken, when he spoke his words carried meaning, reflecting the strength of his character and the sincerity of his heart. He will be remembered for his quiet nature, his strong work ethic, and the love he had for those closest to him. Marlon is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mayline Carpenter; his son, Brian Carpenter (April); his daughters, Cristie Lambert (Tracy), Sandy King (Harvey), Marla Rorie (James), and Kimberly Carpenter (Matt); his grandchildren, Samantha Lambert, Bridgett King, Amber King, Nicki Woodruff, Cody Sanders, Jeremiah Rorie, Owen Scott, Charia Floyd, Blake Carpenter, and Kimzie Phipps; 22 great grandchildren; his sister, Linda Cole (Terry); several nieces, nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his granddaughter, Brittany Lambert; his brother, Gerald Ray Carpenter; and his sister, Helen Ruth McAnally (Melvin). Magnolia Funeral Home has been honored to serve the family of Marlon Carpenter.
