On Monday, December 22, Mary Golda Evans Fell, age 97 of Corinth, MS, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family.
Mary Fell was born on April 28, 1928, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Joseph Goulden Evans and Mary Golda Tiffany. She lived a life rooted in faith, family, service, and love.
Mary spent her childhood growing up in several places, including Idaho, California, Nevada, Montana and South Africa, experiences that shaped her adaptable spirit and appreciation for people and cultures from all walks of life.
On June 9, 1947, Mary married the love of her life, Robert Junis Fell Sr, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. Their marriage was built on devotion, faith, and partnership, and together they created a strong and loving family.
Mary was the proud mother of three children: Pamela Ann Portie (Edward.dec), RJ Fell Jr. (Victoria), and Clay Hamilton Fell (Karen). Her greatest joy came from her family, which continued to grow through her grandchildren: Aimee Patterson (Bryan), Jill Anderson (David.dec), Benjamin Portie (Christy), Katina Roberts (Nathaniel), Jonathan Portie, Victoria Fell, dec, Mara Fell, Carla Fell, Cohl Fell, and Eastlyn Enderle (Ian).
She was also blessed with many great-grandchildren: Benjamin Anderson, Leyton Patterson (Anna), Madeline Meteer (Colton), Brooke Patterson, Olivia Quinton (Calvin), Erik Anderson, Isaac Roberts, Charlotte Roberts, Braiden Portie, Emily Anderson, Collin Portie, Emmett Roberts, Corinne Roberts, Maximillion Fell, Lilyana Fell, Ezra Fell, and John Enderle. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Gloria Evans (Kent. dec) and Patricia Evans (Richard, dec) and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her siblings; Kaye Hunt (Reg), Harvey Evans (Laura).
Mary was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout her life. In 1997, she faithfully served a mission with her husband for the Church in Bacolod, Philippines, an experience that reflected her deep commitment to service, compassion, and sharing her faith. She enjoyed many years of serving in the Relief Society and working at the Washington DC and Kansas City LDS Temples. She is remembered fondly by many children as being “Sister Friendly” in her longtime Kearney, Missouri LDS ward.
At the age of 88 Mary uprooted herself from her friends in Kansas City and moved to Clinton, MS and later Corinth, MS where she was lovingly cared for in the home of her grand-daughter Aimee and her family for the last ten years.
Mary will be remembered for her quiet strength, unwavering testimony, love for her family, and lifelong dedication to serving others. Her legacy lives on through the generations she nurtured and the many lives she touched.
