Nicholas "Nick" Langston

Nicholas "Nick" Langston, a beloved educator and mentor, passed away from an unexpected illness on October 30, 2025, at the age of 41. Born on September 21, 1984, Nick devoted his adult life to teaching and inspiring young minds. His teaching included subjects such as: math, English, history, chemistry, and biology, wherein he demonstrated an unwavering commitment to education and profound Love for his students. His exceptional abilities and dedication were noted when he was named “Teacher of the Year”, and was later recognized as a Mississippi “Star Teacher”, an honor requiring nomination by a student. Both awarded early in his career. Nick was a proud alumnus of the University of North Alabama, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree, and his teaching certification from the University of Mississippi. In and out of the classroom, he was known for being a motivator and encourager, serving as a point of light to many, always extending his support and encouragement to help his students and friends succeed. Nick was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, where he was a guest pianist and audio operator. He held various leadership positions in Scout Troop 123, where he earned the rank of Eagle Scout in 2001. A gathering of family and friends will be held at Magnolia Funeral Home - East on Friday , November 7, 2025 from 5-7 pm. Nick is survived by his parents, Danny and Donna Langston; his brother, Matthew Langston (Chelsea Turner); his sister, Meghan Langston (Clint Champion); his nephew, Forrest Langston; his special uncle and aunt, Johnny and Phyllis Hellums; a dear family friend, Reed McNatt; other relatives and a host of friends. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Jesse and Mary Langston; and by his maternal grandfather, Don Meritt; and maternal grandmother, Ina Leavern Gilbert. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, an animal rescue of the donor’s choice, or through a random act of kindness in Nick's memory. Nick is deeply missed by his family, and by so many whose lives he touched through his profound spirit of generosity, encouragement, and as a gifted educator. His family hopes his legacy of those “gifts” will continue to inspire students and others to “pay it forward”. Magnolia Funeral Home is honored to care for the family of Nicholas "Nick" Langston.
