A Celebration of Life service for Pastor Sammy Burns will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Magnolia Funeral Home – South Chapel in Corinth, MS, with Bro. John Foles officiating. Interment will be in Magnolia Gardens. The family will receive friends for visitation prior to the service, beginning at 12:00 noon at Magnolia Funeral Home – South Chapel. Service will be live streamed on www.magnoliafuneralhome.net under this obituary. 

Samuel "Sammy" Farris Burns, 68, of Columbus, MS, went to meet his Savior face-to-face on Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at his home in Semmes, AL. He was born in Corinth, MS, on March 23, 1957 to the late Bill and Doris Burns. Sammy was a loving, devout husband, father, brother, granddaddy, uncle, pastor and friend. He was called to the ministry in 1991 and ordained and licensed as a minister of the Gospel by First Baptist Church in Corinth, MS. He ministered where the Lord led over the course of 34 years, with the privilege of serving at Georgetown Baptist Church in Chunchula, AL, in his last pastorship for three and a half years. He initially entered into fellowship with Georgetown Baptist Church through involvement in their Bible conferences over the past 20 years. Sammy was a lover and follower of Jesus Christ and the Word of God. He was always so humbled that his Lord called him to minister the Word.

Sammy is survived by his wife of nearly 48 years, Jo Lynn Burns; five children—Farris Burns (Canada), Joseph Burns, Rachel Martin (Davin), Mary Grace Green (Austin), and Andrew Burns; six grandchildren—Ransom Burns, Kairos Martin, Asher Martin, William Hayes Green, Olivia Lynn Green, and Virginia Green; one brother, Bobby Burns (Christy); his sister-in-law, Leigh Ann Foster (Robert); nephews, JR Burns (Kerisa) and John Michael Foster; and niece, Sarah Kate Burns. Sammy was preceded in death by his parents– Bill and Doris Burns; his grandparents– Robert and Louise Burns, and his in-laws– Hoyt and Mavis Alexander. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Georgetown Baptist Church. Magnolia Funeral Home has been honored to serve the family of Pastor Samuel “Sammy” Burns.
