Peggy Allen Woodhouse

A celebration of the life of Peggy Allen Woodhouse will be held Friday, March 8, at 11:00 a.m. in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church in Corinth. Mrs. Woodhouse died Wednesday, March 6, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo following a six-year battle with cancer. Born in Aberdeen, Mississippi, on October 19, 1940, Mrs. Woodhouse was a 1958 graduate of Aberdeen High School and a 1961 of Baptist School of Nursing in Memphis, Tennessee. She began her nursing career at Monroe County Clinic and after caring for patients in Texas, Louisiana and Panama, served the final years of her career as Director of Nursing at Magnolia Hospital in Corinth. She served several years on the Mississippi Board of Nursing. An advocate for the sanctity of life, Mrs. Woodhouse was a charter member of the Board of Directors of Save-A-Life Ministries in Corinth. She also made 8 trips to Romania with Romanian American Mission where she provided medical care and helped spread the love of her Savior Jesus Christ. She was an avid gardener, growing a wide variety of flowers and vegetables, and she enjoyed cooking, camping, collecting glassware and "junking". Mrs. Woodhouse was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Francis Randle Allen of Amory, Mississippi, and a brother, Jack Randle Allen, of Luling, Louisiana. Mrs. Woodhouse is survived by her husband, Al Woodhouse, and two sons, Allen Woodhouse (Ann) and Jeff Woodhouse (Missy), all of Corinth. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: Amy Woodhouse Richey (Jeremy) of Gulfport, Mississippi, Ben Woodhouse, Allison Woodhouse and Betsy Woodhouse, all of Corinth. Her newest pride and joy was one great grandchild. Other surviving family members include her sisters, Patsy Wright (Eugene) of Amory, Mississippi, and Glenda Kroll (Morgan) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, a brother, Johnny Allen (Martha) of New Orleans, Louisiana, and a sister-in-law, Claudia Allen of Luling, Louisiana. Mrs. Woodhouse will be missed by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and close friends. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to Oasis Medical Center, 2668 South Harper Road, Corinth, MS 38834 or Romanian American Mission, 2801 US 31 South, Decatur, Alabama 35603. The family will reciceve friends from 5:30 to 8:00pm on Thursday, March 7, at First Baptist Church. Magnolia funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Rev. Dennis Smith will officiate and Ann Woodhouse, daughter-in-law will deliver the eulogy. Honorary pallbearers will be the Ambasadors Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church, Merrill Sanders, Teacher.
