A Celebration of Life service for Rev. Martin Baker Doran, 70 of Crockett, TX formerly of Corinth is set for Thursday, July 10, 2024 at 4pm at Magnolia Gardens. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2025 from 2pm-4pm at Magnolia Funeral Home - SOUTH Chapel at 741 Hwy 45 South. Don Elliot will officiate the service. Rev. Doran was born October 27, 1954 to the late Moss Eugene Doran and Mrs. Jerrie Doran. He passed from this life on Friday, June 13, 2025 in Crockett, TX. Rev. Doran loved his family and enjoyed keeping up with all the news on his nieces and nephews. He was a graduate of Corinth High School Class of 1973. Martin began serving at First Presbyterian Church in Corinth in 1990. He later moved to Lufkin, Tx in a position at FUMC Lufkin. While serving there, he was appointed as pastor at Huntington UMC. Martin successfully served Huntington UMC for many years transforming it into a vibrant and active congregation. Among the additional church appointments under which he served are Burke UMC, San Augustine UMC, Zavalla, Shady Chapel, and McMahan Chapel UMC . Martin’s knowledge of the Bible, musical ability on the piano, and a beautiful singing voice all added to his ability to lead a congregation and minister to the communities in which he served. Martin’s love for God and heart for ministry never left him. Even when his health was failing and he was unclear in other ways, he would quote scripture, preach, and sometimes sing his favorite hymns. He is known to have said about death, “It is just the beginning. I preached it all my life and I believe it. So whatever happens, God has me covered.” Rev. Martin Baker Doran: son, brother, uncle, great-uncle, pastor, and friend. Rev. Doran is survived by his mother, Jerrie Doran; brother, Mike Doran (Jocelyn); sister, Amy Wigington (David); aunts, Martha Jobe (Bill) and Jean Fehnel; nieces and nephews, Michael Doran (Alicia), Bart Doran (Dawn), Ben Cain (Brittany), Lee Cain (Kierra), Courtney McGinnis (Greg) and Kelley Hughston (Ty); numerous great nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
