Funeral services for Roy Allen Oaks, 89, of Corinth, MS are set for 2pm Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Magnolia Funeral Home East with interment in Magnolia Gardens. Visitation will be Saturday, August 15, 2026, from 12pm-2pm. Bro. James Voyles will officiate the 2pm service with Bob Sweeney, Dr. Rob Headrick, and William Reedy sharing heartfelt tributes. Pallbearers will be William Reedy, Harrison Reedy, Andrew Reedy, Lieutenant Seth Greene, John O Windsor and Ryan Whitfield. Born June 5, 1937, in Farmington, MS., Roy passed from this life on August 3, 2026, at StoneRidge in Farmington. Mr. Oaks graduated from Farmington High School and received his bachelors degree from Mississippi State University.

Born and raised in Corinth, he built a life grounded in hard work, loyalty, and a deep love for his family and community. He opened Roy’s One Stop in 1964, which became a familiar and trusted stop for generations of locals. Roy’s One Stop was more than a business—it was a cornerstone of Corinth, MS. Everyone in town has a story or two about Roy’s One Stop. Mr. Oaks was an innovative entrepreneur also owning a number of laundrymats, arcades, package stores, car washes and real estate.

Mr. Oaks was a proud U.S. Army Veteran. He was profoundly patriotic and proud of his service to our great country. He carried that pride throughout his life, standing firmly for what he believed in. Mr. Oaks grew up in the Baptist Church. He often stated that he felt closest to God in his tree stand on one of his many farms surrounded by the quiet beauty of our maker’s creation.

In 2005, he was honored as Mississippi Forestry Man of the Year, receiving the John Vaughn Award—a recognition that reflected his integrity, his work ethic, and his deep respect for the outdoors. He went back to Mississippi State once he retired and got an honorary Forestry degree and began acquiring land, trees and hunting farms. Whether he was hunting, fishing, gardening, or heading to Tunica, he approached each day with enthusiasm and gratitude.

Some of his fondest memories were made at the Liar’s Table at Lonnies, at The Pit Stop or Jack’s. Where he spent countless mornings swapping stories, stirring up laughter, and enjoying the fellowship of friends. He leaves behind a legacy of grit, generosity, patriotism, and good humor. Those who knew him will forever remember the strength of his character and his endless and unspoken generosity.

Mr. Roy Oaks is survived by his wife of 39 years, Patricia “Pat” Lowrey Oaks; his daughter, Anita Doll Oaks Headrick (Rob),Mother of his daughter Dorothy Austin Oaks; a host of beautiful nieces, nephews, and life-long friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Jenny Lee Oaks; brothers, Pete Oaks (Ollie), Joe Oaks (Florence), Doc Oaks (Virginia), Jack Oaks (Nell), Jim Oaks (Gloria Ann), Lonnie Oaks (Betty), Mac Oaks (Brenda), Bobby Oaks; and his sisters, June Oaks Vanderford (Jesse), Mary Alice Oaks. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in his honor to Alcorn Central High School for the Roy Oaks Memorial scholarship awarded to a senior each year or Mississippi State Veterinary Medicine Program. Magnolia Funeral Home has been honored to serve the family of Roy Oaks.
