Sarah Jean Whittemore, born on June 20, 1954, in Rienzi, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2026, in Corinth, Mississippi. She was a beloved member of The Chapel of Pentecost, formerly known as Tobes Chapel, and her life was marked by deep devotion to her family, faith, and community.
Sarah dedicated over three decades of her life to caregiving, serving as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Whitfield Nursing Home for an impressive 32 and a half years. Her commitment to the well-being of others and her compassionate nature left an enduring impact on those she cared for and worked alongside.
A woman of varied interests, Sarah found joy in traveling, shopping, cooking, and especially spending cherished moments with her family. Renowned as the Queen of bargain hunting, she had an exceptional talent for finding the best deals, a quality that delighted friends and family alike.
She is survived by her son, Fenton Whittemore, and his wife, Kathryn; her treasured grandchildren, Christian Whittemore and Katelyn Whittemore; and her sisters, Ola Mitchell, Helen Gray, Mary Spencer, Reatha Spencer, Leatha Womble, and Beatrice Rorie, who is married to Richard. Sarah also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends who will remember her warmth and generous spirit.
Sarah was preceded in death by her father, Hulet Robbins; her mother, Minnie Parker Robbins; her brothers, Jimmy Robbins, John Robbins, and Henry Robbins; and her sisters, Roxie Burcham, Susie Killough, Joyce Killough, and Shirley Rorie.
A visitation will be held on April 16, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Magnolia Funeral Home - East, located at 2024 Hwy 72 East Annex, Corinth, MS 38834. This will be followed immediately by the funeral service from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the same location with interment in The Burcham Family Cemetery. Rev. Corey Burcham and Rev. Keith Burcham will officiate the service with Layton Burcham delivering the eulogy. Pallbearers will be Sammy Burcham, Nathan Burcham, Ed Robbins, Eugene Killough, Christian Whittemore and Katelyn Whittemore. Honorary pallbearer will be Earl Rorie.
Sarah Jean Whittemore’s unwavering dedication to her family, her career, and her community leaves a lasting legacy. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May her memory be a blessing to her loved ones and all who were touched by her kindness. Magnolia Funeral Home has been honored to serve the family of Mrs. Sarah Jean Whittemore.
