Obituary

A celebration of life for Sherry Nelson, 67, of Booneville, MS is scheduled for 2:00 PM Sunday, December 28, 2025, at Oak Grove Independent Methodist Church in Pocahontas, TN with interment to follow in Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Jake Rogers, Bro. Joe Spencer, and Bro. Terrell Gatewood will officiate at the service. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until on Saturday, December 27, 2025, and from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM Sunday, December 28, 2025, at Oak Grove Independent Methodist Church. Pallbearers include Tyler Williams, Bryan Williams, Jordan Nelson, R. J. Baggett, David Clanton, and Cordell Pannell. Honorary pallbearers include Caleb Williams, Timothy Doss, Cody Brock, and Shane Strange. Sherry was born October 24, 1958, in Tippah County, Mississippi, and passed away Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at NMMC - Tupelo. For 32 dedicated years, Sherry served as a transportation manager with North Mississippi Community Services. Beyond her professional life, Sherry was a vibrant soul whose grandchildren and great-grandchildren were truly the center of her universe. The joy they brought her was immeasurable and reflected in the countless memories they created together. Sherry cherished family vacations and found great pleasure in travel, especially spending time at the beach. A woman of many talents, Sherry was also known for her sewing skills and her crafting endeavors. Her ability to create extended beyond fabric and thread, encompassing all she undertook. Fueled by a love for dancing, her spirit shone brightest when surrounded by family and friends. Sherry was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, Sherry Nelson's life was a tapestry woven with love, devotion, and joy, and her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched so profoundly. Those left to honor Sherry’s memory include her children, Jimmy Nelson (Carla), Michael Nelson (Juanita); her mother, Doris Bennett; her boyfriend, James Strange; her step children, Shane Strange (Tessa), and Kimberly Strange; her grandchildren, Savana Nelson, Breanna Baggett (R.J), Jordan Nelson (Becca), Sebastian Nelson, Cooper Day, Helen Hamlin (Jerrod), Timothy Doss (Mary), Montana Doss, Sophie Strange, Spencer Strange, Skyler Strange, and Sadie Strange; her great grandchildren, Kodi, Arianna, Scarlett, Jase, and Melody; her sisters, Missy Williams and Debbie Bryant (Phillip); her brothers, Danny Rogers (Angie), and Terry Len Rogers; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Terry Nelson; her son, Jamie Nelson; her father, Billy Wayne Rogers; her grandson, Dakota “Cody” Nelson; her brother, Kenny Rogers; her sisters, Sandy Hogue and Teresa Rogers.
