A Celebration of Life Service for Sue McAnally is set for Wednesday, February 18, 2026 at 2 pm at Magnolia Funeral Home. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 18, 2026 from 12 pm till service time at Magnolia Home - East. Peyton Houston will officiate the service with family reflections offered by Benjie Houston. Interment will follow in Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers include Brandon Derrick, Adam Ellsworth, Mark Easley, Phillip Derrick, and Jeremy Derrick. Sue McAnally, a devoted member of her community and a beloved figure to many, passed away on February 14, 2026, at the age of 78. Born on July 1, 1947, Sue lived a life characterized by hard work, independence, and a profound sense of humility. A proud graduate of Biggersville High School, Class of 1965, Sue spent her working life contributing to Corinthian Furniture, Kimberly Clark and Martin Plant Services at Caterpillar, where her dedication and strong work ethic were hallmarks of her career. Outside of her professional endeavors, Sue enjoyed a range of hobbies that brought her joy and fulfillment. She had a passion for dirt track racing and found tranquility in fishing. Additionally, Sue delighted in mowing and working in her yard, which reflected her love for the outdoors and her nurturing spirit. In quieter moments, she could often be found watching her favorite television stories, particularly "The Young and the Restless." Sue was a long-time member of Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where she attended as long as she was able, demonstrating her commitment to her faith and community. Her personality was marked by a simplicity and toughness that resonated with those who knew her. She was known to be selfless and content, possessing a quiet strength that made a lasting impression on her friends and family. Survivors include her son, Benjie Houston (Tina); her grandchildren, Peyton Houston and Knox Houston; her great grandchildren, Briella, Judah, and Elliana; her brothers, Marvin Derrick, and Jerry Derrick (Betty); her sister, Peggy Gray; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Charles "Chuck" McAnally; her parents, Frank and Orina Derrick; her brothers, Billy Derrick and Danny Derrick; and her sisters, Alice Easley and Joann Derrick. Sue McAnally leaves behind a legacy of dedication, kindness, and humility that will be cherished by all who had the privilege to know her. Her memory will continue to inspire those who remember her simple yet rich approach to life. Magnolia Funeral Home is honored to care for the family of Sue McAnally.
