Tammy Lynn Nash, age 64, passed from this life to her eternal heavenly home on June 9, 2026. She was born on November 23, 1961.
Tammy spent her adult life in Alcorn County, Mississippi, residing in Rienzi for many years before moving to Wenasoga, where she spent the last decade. During her childhood, she lived in thirteen different states before moving from San Jose, California to Corinth during the summer before her junior year of high school. Mississippi would become the fourteenth and final state she called home.
Of all the blessings in her life, Tammy loved the Lord and her family most. She met the love of her life, Ken Nash, in 1979, and the two were married in 1981. Tammy passed just shy of their 45th wedding anniversary.
Tammy's life was marked by extraordinary perseverance. For much of her life, she faced health challenges that would have discouraged many, yet she met them with remarkable strength, unwavering faith, and determination. Despite years of illness, complications, and setbacks, she remained committed to being present for those she loved most, first for her husband and daughter, Kari Beth, and later for her grandson, Nolan. Becoming "Nonna" to Nolan brought one of the greatest joys of her life. Through every trial, her faith never wavered. Even in the most difficult seasons, she maintained her sense of humor and had a remarkable ability to fill a room with laughter.
A devoted Christian, Tammy had a special love for children and youth. She faithfully served for many years in the children's and youth ministries at Rienzi Baptist Church. She especially enjoyed leading Girls in Action (GA) classes and chaperoning youth group trips. Tammy also served as a substitute teacher in the Alcorn County School District, where she cherished every opportunity to invest in the lives of young people. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond the church and classroom; she welcomed countless friends of her daughter into her home over the years and was known for making everyone feel loved and accepted.
Tammy graduated from Kossuth High School in 1980 and continued her education at Northeast Mississippi Community College and the University of North Alabama, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse at Helen Keller Hospital, North Mississippi Health Services, and Magnolia Regional Health Center.
Although declining health shortened her nursing career, the knowledge and skills she gained were never wasted. She used them throughout her life while caring for her mother, her daughter, and herself. Tammy possessed an extraordinary memory, often recalling stories with such vivid detail that listeners felt as though they had lived them alongside her. Her smile reflected both kindness and beauty, and her devoted husband often remarked that he would do anything simply to see her smile.
Above all, Tammy desired to honor the Lord in the way she lived and loved others. Her life's mission was clear: to love and care for her family, and she fulfilled that calling faithfully and well.
Tammy is survived by her husband, Ken Nash; her daughter and son-in-law, Kari Beth and Warren Jumper; her beloved grandson, Nolan Jumper; her sister, Sheryl Cook (Danny); her brother-in-law, Keith Nash (Christy); and her nieces and nephews, Haley Cook (Luke Leuterio), Matthew Cook (Courtney), Marshall Cook (Baillie), Peyton Nash (Autumn), Grace Pannell (Jeremy), and Noah Nash.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sheldon "Don" Marshall and Peggy Marshall; her twin sisters, Teresa Marshall and Kathryn Marshall; and her grandparents, Lonzo E. and Rosie West Hayes, and Sheldon Cook Marshall Sr. and Pearl Gwendolyn Rhuda Marshall.
Her family finds comfort in knowing that the faith she held so tightly throughout her life has now become sight, and that she is in the presence of the Savior she loved and served so faithfully.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, June 11th at 2pm, at Magnolia Funeral Home South, 741 Hwy 45 S, Corinth, MS, with Bro. Brandon Palmer and Bro. Colton Horner officiating. Visitation will be held from noon until service time. Burial will be in the Kemps Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Matthew Cook, Marshall Cook, Peyton Nash, Noah Nash, Danny Morris, Doug Johnson, Wally Davis, and Harold Palmer.
In remembrance of Tammy, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to the children’s and youth ministries at Rienzi Baptist Church and Holly Baptist Church or to the VHL Alliance to continue research for those battling von Hippel-Lindau at VHL.org.
