William Fred Durbin was born August 15, 1944 in the Shiloh community of Hardin County, Tenn, the son of the late Jesse Levi and Annie Sue (Campbell) Durbin. Mr. Durbin called Corinth, MS home for well over 50 years. Mr. Durbin was of Methodist faith and attended various churches in the area, when not on the road. Mr. Durbin entered eternal rest at his home, with his family at his side, on Saturday June 28, 2025.
His wife of 24 years, Marvline Arnett Durbin, preceded him in death on July 12, 2021.
Mr. Durbin was a career Owner/Operator for Landstar Trucking, earning his place as a member of the 3 MILLION MILE CLUB, an extraordinary achievement in the trucking industry. This achievement also came with a gifted new rig, which Mr. Durbin owned until his retirement in 2017.
Known for his trucking stories (with a pretty good joke tossed in there every now and again) he was in his element when surrounded by his large family.
Freddie is survived by his youngest sibling, brother (and sister in law) Jerry and Judi Durbin of Dunlap, TN, as well as incredibly loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
With his marriage to Marvline, so came a bonus family left with cherished memories, who lovingly refer to him as “Rocky”, they are Weldon Ferguson, Michael Ferguson, Timothy Tuck, Sandy Wellborn, Veora Jasinski and caregiver extraordinaire, bonus grandson, Michael Jasinski.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Durbin was preceded in death by siblings (and their spouses) Evelyn Marie Durbin (infant), Jesse Durbin, Jr. (Betty), Mildred Holt (Arthur), Bobby Durbin (Gail), and Eleanor Smith (Donald Ray). Great-nephews Alan Pickens and Blake McClain also preceded him.
Jerry and Judi wish to extend their heartfelt gratitude to niece and her husband, Kathy and Clinton “Fuzz” Bryant, Michie, TN for providing the peaceful comfort of their home to Jerry when he was in town.
Their gratitude further extends to Mike, Sandy and Gerald for “all the countless and thankless things” as there were many.
A BIG “thank you” to Mr. Durbin's medical caregivers and as well as the local Hospice Chapter. Again, thank you for the care shown to our loved one and your guidance to our family.
Lastly, to all of Freddie's Breakfast Club buddies and staff out at Joe's Diner, Corinth, MS “thank you” for simply being a friend.
Our appreciation is extended to Magnolia Funeral Home, Corinth, MS for their honorable service.
As per Freddie's request a graveside service will be held on Saturday July 5, 2025 at 1:00p CST, at Lebanon Cemetery, 250 Chambers Store Road, Michie, TN. Long time family friend Brother Paul Childers will lead the service. Judi Durbin will deliver the eulogy.
In lieu of flowers, the family request a donation to your favorite charity in Freddie's honor.
